Book Review Competition
1. Take the Shot- Sue White
Dougal 'Bug' lives and breathes basketball; unfortunately, his life has been turned upside down when he is diagnosed with a rare genetic condition leaving him unable to play. Throw in moving in with his quirky Nan, changing schools, dacking the school bully on his first day and trying to play basketball in secret, Bug has a lot to deal with, and it's all worth it to play.
Miss Carson’s Review:
'Take the Shot' is a fun, heart-warming novel that shows the importance of friendships, trust, family, and overcoming obstacles to do what you love. A perfect, engaging read for those that love sports fiction.
2. Break the Fall – Jennifer Iacopelli
3. Nice Girls Don’t Play Footy – Kathy Helidoniotis
Devi Sharma and her mum plan for her to be the next BollyOz star, the problem is she's found a love for footy. Devi's school introduced an all-girls footy team, and she can't get enough. Having more passion and talent for footy than dancing is a problem, can she convince her family to let her play?
Miss Carson’s Review:
'Nice Girls Don't Play Footy' is an excellent novel showing the difficulties of family and cultural pressures and what it takes to overcome them to follow your dreams. Themes similar 'Bend it like Beckham' with an Aussie twist.
4. Off Road- Raelyn Drake
5. Macbeth, You Idiot – Don Henderson
