WELLBEING

BodyWorks- Years 4-6

All students in Years 4-6 will be taking part in our Bodyworks program over the next two weeks with Amanda Parsons.  A presentation of information in regards to the program will be emailed to the specific year levels. If you would like further information please visit the bodyworks health and wellbeing website.

National Day of Action Against Bullying

Classroom teachers and students this year will be working around the theme for 2022 which is a Kindness Culture. By building Kindness Culture together, we can promote inclusion, respect and community belonging for all students in schools across Australia. St James will be celebrating this day on Thursday 17th March (Friday 18th is a school closure day).

National Ride to School Day

St James will be once again taking part in the National Ride to School Day on Friday 25th March. All students are encouraged to ride, walk, scoot or skate to school on this day. If it is too far or hard to manage please consider driving to a location where students can ride, walk, scoot or skate from. Bikes will be parked around the outside of the tennis courts on this day so please head there once you arrive at school.

Reach Out-Bad News

I don’t think I am the first to tell you but there is a lot of bad news out there at the moment! Please use the following link to an article which has some ideas on how to “unplug” from the bad news. Our students are worried about catching COVID and having to isolate for 7 days meaning they may miss out on events they have been looking forward to. They may have family living in flood affected areas. They may be worried about the news of Russia beginning a war. We as the carers/parents must support and care for our children through these times.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

LENT

Yesterday marked the beginning of Lent, an important period of reflection, growth, and new beginnings in the Christian calendar. Christians use this special time to show their devotion to their faith, draw closer to God, and prepare for Easter.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, the day after Shrove Tuesday, and six weeks before Easter. It ends on Holy Saturday, the day before Easter. Lent is 40 days long, as Sundays are not counted.

In the coming days students will create their own Lenten promises around the themes of fasting, prayer and almsgiving. We encourage families to make their own Lenten promises as we journey through this time together.
