Student Learning around KPS

Grade 1

Grade 1 students enjoy a story read by Mr McClare.

Our Grade 1 students learned about measurement using formal and informal methods to compare items in their classrooms.

Grade 3

Grade 3s have been working on measurement too! They have been investigating the size of different animals.

SAK Garden stars and their produce.

Grade 4

Lots of Socks Day

Grade 6

The Sofcross team from  Grade 6 interschool sport, has not lost one game to date.

What a great effort. Ms Todeschini is very proud!

In writing the grade 6 students have been creating snapshot writing pieces. They have been learning about different figurative languages and sensory details to describe a moment in time.

Visual Arts

We’ve been so busy creating lots of wonderful artwork in the Art Room this term!

We’ve created multi-media tigers’ eyes, clay faces and tiles, 3D oversized pencils, and lots of self-portraits. The students have explored printmaking and construction processes and have learned about artists such as Joan Miro.

I also love to see the art you choose to do at home. Look at this amazing blue pen illustration of a Peregrine Falcon by Kade D in Grade 6!

SMOCKS!

Each student should have their own smock to wear for each Art session, which is stored in their classroom. Any kind of covering will do, but the plastic style is the most protective. The majority of materials we use will wash out, but certainly, some paint and glues permanently stain clothes – and I speak from personal experience! Currently, lots of students don’t have their own smock to wear, so please double-check schoolbags and cupboards, give them a wash, and pack them in the schoolbag ready for Term 2.
