Dear Sacred Heart School Community

A prayer for Ukraine

Loving God, We pray for the people of Ukraine, for all those suffering or afraid, you will be close to them and protect them.

We pray for world leaders, for compassion, strength and wisdom to guide their choices.

We pray for the world that in this moment of crisis, we may reach out in solidarity to our brothers and sisters in need.

May we walk in your ways so that peace and justice

become a reality for the people of Ukraine and for all the world.

Amen.

Community Partners

Next term I would like to acknowledge a number of community organisations with whom we have a partnership. These groups support our school  with services, expertise, experiences for our students and help us keep developing our school into a place that allows our students the opportunity to be the best version of themselves.

Upon being appointed Sacred Heart Principal a little over four years ago, my goal was to increase the profile of our school and make links with the local community. Our community partners will be evidence of a commitment towards attaining this goal.

Graduation T- Shirts

Our Year Six students received their graduation t-shirts on Tuesday. In the photo above some of our Year Six students can be seen proudly displaying their t-shirt. On behalf of our students, I would like to thank Dani for once again organising the graduation tops. Dani does an incredible job running our uniform shop.  I am so grateful to Dani and Jarina (who no longer have children at Sacred Heart School) for all their work allowing parents the convenience of a uniform shop at our school, and our school to be able to raise some valuable funds.

Parents and Friend's News

Our next Parents and Friend's meeting will take place on Friday 25th March. As always, all parents are most welcome to join us as we plan our social and fundraising events for the year. Meetings commence at 9.00am and usually run for less than an hour.

Yesterday all families would have received hot cross bun order forms. We ask that you please support this fundraising initiative if you can by purchasing some delicious hot cross buns. During the last two weeks of this term we will conduct an Easter raffle with tickets being sold each night after school.

National Day of Action against Bullying

I am frequently asked by prospective parents on school tours if there is bullying at Sacred Heart. Like all questions, I answer with honesty. There is not a school that would never have had an instance of bullying. The measure of a school is however, what happens if a bullying incident arises and if the school follows the protocols in place. In my time at Sacred Heart you can count on one hand the instances of bullying. They have generally been of a cyber nature and at the lower end of harm committed. However on all occasions the students involved and their parents were part of a learning and restorative process. The parents involved were an integral part of the process and all parties agreed that there is no place for bullying in our school or wider community. I am also very confident that these students will never engage in this type of behaviour again.

World Down Syndrome Day

Next Monday we are participating in World Down Syndrome Day. Our students and staff have been invited to wear their craziest socks as a symbol of our awareness that we are part of a community which celebrates our individual differences. It is by acknowledging and celebrating our differences, finding what it is we have in common and learning from each other that we become a true community.

Mobile phones

We have a number of students in the senior classes who have a mobile phone because of their travel arrangements to and from school.  In these instances we support students bringing a phone to school. The school protocol requires these students to hand their phone to their class teacher each morning so it can be kept in a safe place until dismissal time each evening, when the student will be handed back their phone.

Welcome

We welcome our first Year Prep 2023 enrolment who does not already have a sibling in our school, Patricia. As you can see Patricia is very excited about next year and her "I am going to Sacred Heart Primary School next year" t-shirt.

Coffee Van

The coffee van will be at school in the morning due to todays school photos and will return again for the following Thursdays as normal.

Take care.

YEAR 5/6 SCHOOL CAMP - 2022

As advised in the newsletter last year and in other correspondence sent home we were unable to determine Camp Costs as we had not received final costs for buses and accommodation from our suppliers.  Final quotes have now been received and the cost per student will be $325.00 for Years 5/6.   The fee will appear on your next tax invoice when emailed to you by the end of this term. This will be partly subsidized by our school.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask me.

Regards

Maria Rontani
