Wellbeing Centre

Mentone & Bentleigh

It has been a busy and productive start to the new school year for the Wellbeing Team across both campuses. We welcomed Kim Ruffels as a new member at the Mentone Campus. Kim has a Social Work background and has fitted in seamlessly, already taking on a substantial client load. Our work as a team in Term 1 has ranged from 1-1 sessions with students to assisting with Year 7 orientation/transition, work with families and small group work. It has been fantastic for our work to be completed onsite in person after the previous two years of interrupted schooling.

A reminder that should a student, parent or guardian have any questions/concerns about a student’s wellbeing, they are encouraged to contact the wellbeing department to arrange a referral – send an email to counselling@stbedes.catholic.edu.au or call the school and ask to be transferred to our department (Scott Cadby at the Mentone Campus OR George Vlamakis at the Bentleigh East Campus).

The Child Safe School Committee continues in 2022. The committee’s primary purpose is to ensure that we are meeting and exceeding Child Safe protocols. This year the committee consists of Mark Jones (Deputy Principal – Students), Gabi Warfe (Senior School Coordinator), John McAlroy (Middle School Coordinator), Justin Shepherd (Campus Student Coordinator - Bentleigh East), Melisa Lyons (Benilde House Coordinator), James Honan (Year 8 Coordinator), Scott Cadby (Wellbeing Coordinator and Chair of Committee), Tyler Bierman (Wellbeing Counsellor), Kim Ruffels (Wellbeing Counsellor) and George Vlamakis (Wellbeing Counsellor – Bentleigh East). We are finalising a list of students from years 7-10 that will make up the Child Safe School Student Sub-Committee – designed to promote student voice in this very important area.
