Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Every day seems to throw a new challenge our way. We are all remaining positive at St John's and continue to plan and deliver a rich and engaging curriculum for  your children. I am certainly missing the lack of direct contact with all of you. I hope that you are still feeling connected through the Google Meets, regular communication and check ins from the Staff.

With the new restrictions in place, there is a state wide School Closure Day tomorrow, Tuesday 4 August.

Camp Australia is offering a full day program tomorrow, so if you need to book your child in, please do so online.

Remote Learning On Site

The Government has announced some major changes  for Prep to Year 6 students learning remotely. Students who can attend on-site has changed as listed below:

  • Children whose parents are permitted workers
  • Vulnerable children in out of home care,  and children the school identifies as vulnerable
  • Children with a disability who also fit one of the above two categories.

All students who can stay at home need to do so. This means that if parents are not permitted workers then their children will stay at home and learn remotely. As we will have minimal staff on site for the safety of all, I ask for your cooperation.

Congratulations

We are very proud of Chelsea in Year 1/2 EP who was a finalist in the 2020 Interrelate 'Say No To Bullying' poster competition. Her entry was chosen as a finalist from over 5,000 posters. Last Friday her Faber Castell Prize, framed artwork and certificate arrived in the mail. It was lovely to be able to hand over her award and prizes. Congratulations Chelsea!

Fun Fridays

Last Friday everyone dressed up for Christmas in July. It was great seeing so many glittering outfits and Santa Hats. This Friday our Whole School Fun Friday theme is 'Brighten My Day'. We ask that all students choose one bright colour to dress in. I look forward to seeing you all dressed up on your Google meets.

Shave for a Cure

Havana, in 1/2 CB, is participating in the Cancer Council Head Shave. She has shaved the back of her hair because she wants to help people with cancer and make a difference. Her mum had melanoma-skin cancer and was one of the lucky ones. Please help Havana by supporting the Cancer Council Victoria and giving whatever you can using the ‘Give Now’ button. We are very proud of you Havana. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!
