STEAM Competition:           Stop Glasses from Fogging Up

Do you have an eye for design?  Are you looking for something to do in lockdown?  Do you wear glasses and struggle with them fogging up when you wear a mask?

If you answered yes to some or all of the above then do we have a competition for you!

We would like you to design some way of making it easier to wear glasses with masks.  The options are endless but need to be something unique that has not been thought of before and is not found on TikTok.

You will need to design a prototype.  This could be in the form of a drawing or an actual design utilising recycled goods.

You are asked to submit the prototype of your design via a short 3 minute video to Ms Purches by Friday 28th August explaining how it stops glasses from fogging up.

This competition is open to all students in 7-12. A panel of teachers will award a prize to the best design.

For further information please email Ms Purches. Happy designing!

Art in Isolation Exhibition Postponed

We'd like to advise that the Art in Isolation Exhibition has been postponed.

We will make it happen, but not when it was originally scheduled which falls when we are in stage 4 restrictions. Collection and hanging of creations would be impossible during this time.

Keep being creative during your time in isolation. Creative outlets can include all sorts of activities. These include sewing, knitting, backyard constructions, baking, mindful creations, gardening, creative writing, poetry, drawing, painting or playing a musical instrument.

If you can't bring your creation to the exhibition you can always take a photo of it. Save your photos and when the time comes to exhibit, you can email them and we can print them for you.

Hang in there everybody. I find being creative helps me to be mindful and relaxed. The time just melts away when you are focussed on a creative activity.

Lesson plans - How do we teach at DSC?

Given how powerful it is when parents and carers are involved in supporting learners from home, we’ve published some information on Compass for parents/carers and students about how our lessons are structured. The key ideas can be seen in the table below:
