SFS VIRTUAL CHOIR 

Would you like to be part of our SFS Virtual School Choir?

Please follow the following steps to be a STAR!

1. Give your child permission on Caremonkey/Operoo to be a part of the Virtual Choir.
2. Make a vocal video recording of your child's voice singing ‘This is Me – The Greatest Showman’
3. Use the version in this clip: https://safeYouTube.net/w/A8IO to sing with when video taping your child's vocal recording.
4. Please note: When recording, It should only be your child’s voice – no background noise.
5. Please email their vocal recording to kgalea@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au by Monday 10th August.

– LS2 Juniors – 

Literacy

Reading

LS2 Juniors have been working on making inferences about what they are reading. They have demonstrated how they can use clues from the text along with their schema to infer characters feelings and the setting from a text. 

Writing

LS2 Juniors have been working on Narratives.  They have demonstrated how they can use pictures to plan their ideas and compose a beginning, middle and end. Clinic 1 & 2 have also been learning how to use ‘and’ to join two ideas in a sentence. Clinic 5 & 6 have been exploring adjectives to bring characters to life. 

Mathematics

Clinic 1/2 

Clinic 1 & 2 have been working on identifying and matching Australian coins to their value. They have demonstrated they can use this skill to identify which Australian coin they can use to purchase certain items. 

Clinic 3/4

Clinic 3 & 4 have been working on using the counting on strategy to find the total amount. They have demonstrated how they can use number lines to help them find the total amount. 

Clinic 5/6 

Children in Clinic 5 & 6 have been working on using the split strategy in three digit addition problems. They have shown how to apply this strategy to worded problems as well.

RE/Inquiry

LS2 Juniors have been working on our concept of ‘EMPOWERNMENT’. 

They have been exploring the big question: ‘How can I empower myself and others to support a healthy mind, body and spirit?’ 

They have been learning about the values of love and happiness by identifying their personal strengths and achievements. They have also learned about developing a Growth Mindset through positive thinking and identifying strategies to support them in challenging situations.

FRIDAY SENIOR SPORT

A big thank you to all the Senior students who sent through photos and videos of their sport session last week. Students had a choice of yoga, indoor workout, skipping and frisbee. What an active group of students!! 

Well done Seniors!

School Sport Victoria posted a virtual cross country last term to encourage students to become active and this term they have a variety of other virtual sporting challenges that they have posted. Parents please ensure you are aware and agree with any challenge your child participates in and keep to the Stage 3 restrictions.
