Co-curricular - Senior Sport

Thank You

It has been a wet and unpredictable start to the Winter Season, but I would like to sincerely thank all the MICs, coaches, players and parents/carers for their flexibility and understanding when fixtures are changed late in the week. My goal week-in and week-out is to ensure our boys are provided with every opportunity to take the field/court on Saturdays to participate in their chosen sport.

I am very proud of how our boys are conducting themselves in these first three rounds of fixtures and just as importantly, our results have been equally fantastic. I wish to highlight our First XV Rugby and First XI Football teams who have had three from three wins. There has definitely been some entertaining play on display from both teams and I encourage our community to continue to support these teams away this Saturday, and next weekend with Year 9 Supporters' Day.

Reconciliation Round

On Saturday 28 May, the College will hold our Winter Reconciliation Round of Co-curricular across all disciplines.

The First XV Rugby, First XI Football and First IV Tennis players will wear our College’s Aboriginal strip created in conjunction with our partner school in Alice Springs, St Joseph’s Flexible Learning Centre.

Across the day, ALL teams will Acknowledge Country prior to the commencement of their fixtures.  As we do this, it is important that we work for Reconciliation in our everyday lives beyond just Saturday, addressing racism and affecting change for the greater good of our original custodians where possible.

St Patrick’s College stands in solidarity with all First Nations peoples and acknowledges the Wangal clan of the Dharug people in the greater Eora nation, as well as the Central Arrente people of Alice Springs.

Forward planning - Rugby in Bathurst, Saturday 18 June

The rugby fraternity will travel over the mountains to play St Stanislaus' College Bathurst on Saturday 18 June. All teams will play in Bathurst apart from the 13 Ds (at this point in time). A bus will again be organised and a note will go out to parents/carers in the near future regarding transport.

All rugby players will be required to travel to Bathurst to play in their respective fixtures. It is the College’s expectations that all rugby players will attend. Should any family question their son’s ability to fulfil this commitment, a written ‘request for leave’ should be addressed to Mr Fochesato and myself at your earliest convenience.

It always proves to be a great weekend away so start booking your accommodation.
