Leadership     

This year we have new leadership program, which means that student voice here at Maffra Secondary College has improved. Having a greater student voice here means we can make changes in the school that the students want, and helps us run fun activities or events for everyone to enjoy! We have a larger leadership team, of diverse students from all across the school. If you have any feedback/questions/input come to one of us and have a chat or send us an email :)

As you may have heard recently, the old Yr 8 staffroom is now available to use for student led initiatives, and various leadership meetings. Together as a team, we have renamed the room after a Gunai Kurnai word. The room is now called 'TALMARU' which means 'place that inspires to learn'. Have a great week everyone!

On Monday 9th May our student leaders were acknowledged and presented with their badges in our annual Student Leadership Assembly. Ms Roep and our School Council President, Peter Neaves, spoke about courage, leadership and the importance of being the “first follower”. 

The Student Leadership Team are well on their way to planning events and activities for Term 2, with plans this Term to celebrate and raise awareness for World Environment Day. Activities will include a waste audit, environment walk, casual dress day and tree planting. Our student leaders also continue to work with the Wellington Council on the “Wellington Ways to Wellbeing” initiative and are planning activities that relate to the 5 ways of wellbeing. House Captains are running lunchtime activities (the “Be Active” and “Connect” way to wellbeing), such as the ever-popular dodge ball and Kahoot trivia, for students to get involved in.

Everyone is welcome to attend their Year Level Student Action Team meetings. In these meetings, we discuss what improvements need to be made around the school and what activities and events can happen. Meetings happen every fortnight (Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9) on the following days:
