Principals Message
WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
All families are invited to participate in the survey.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Friday 18th August to Friday 8 September 2023.
The link to the survey will be sent out on Monday 21st August via Compass.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
Our school will share the survey results with the school community in future editions of the newsletter and annual reports. For more information speak to your classroom teacher.
Thankyou for your support of our staff learning
Thank you to our school community for your support of our professional learning day on Friday 11th August. We recognise the challenges that school closure days may pose for families, and we want to acknowledge the difficulties these situations can bring. Your flexibility, resilience, and ongoing collaboration during such times are deeply appreciated and do not go unnoticed.
The theme of our learning was "How do we want to be together?" This question guided our activities, discussions, and collaborative work throughout the day. We believe that a strong sense of togetherness among our staff directly impacts the enriching learning experiences we provide for your children.
The activities and discussions we engaged in were influenced by two impactful Department of Education initiatives: the Community Understanding and Safety Training (CUST) initiative and the Strengthening Professional Capabilities of Principals in Koorie Education (SPPIKE) program. These programs have equipped our staff with invaluable insights, tools, and strategies to create an inclusive and nurturing environment for all students.
CUST Initiative:
The CUST initiative emphasises the significance of fostering a deep understanding of our school community's diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures. By enhancing our cultural competency, we ensure that every child feels seen, valued, and understood, promoting an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
SPPIKE Program:
The SPPIKE program has further empowered our staff, enhancing their capabilities to provide a meaningful and supportive education for our Koorie students. By weaving indigenous perspectives and knowledge into our teaching practices, we honor the rich cultural heritage of our region and create an inclusive space that celebrates diversity.
