Students from our school have recently undertaken an education tour of the National Capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $45 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
This week we had P Brown and A Crow compete in the second round of Lion's Club speaking.
They had to use their knowledge and quick thinking to write a story to impress the judges of the Lions Club.
Poppy Brown has shown her amazing courage and skill and won 1st place in her age group. We interviewed Poppy to share what her winning experience was like doing the Lions Club speaking.
"Well for starters I was very nervous and there was a lot of food there and I love food. It was also very nerve wracking which I enjoyed. All the speeches were good and I enjoyed listening to them all." That was Poppy's description of the day.
Our much-anticipated junior swimming lessons have officially kicked off at the Moe Newborough Indoor Pool! We're excited to watch our junior swimmers flourish over the course of this program.
