The Arts are Alive at Saints

Visual Art

On the weekend, 10 students from Saints were invited to participate in a fantastic opportunity run by Griffith Conservatory of Art and Design School. Lecturers flew up from Brisbane to hold three different workshops from Friday evening through to Sunday morning. The Years 8 to 11 students learnt to plan and develop innovative techniques to express their identities and emotions. Additionally, they gained the ability to create designs that respond to their environments.

The skills our students are developing in planning and generating ideas will benefit their future art making. During the program, the boys built networks with students from other participating schools and built connections with the lecturers. It was a fantastic weekend!

Drama

Our all-boys production of Treasure Island is well and truly gaining traction. The boys are rehearsing beautifully. Information about tickets will be released towards the end of term. There'll be four shows: two matinees and two evening performances. Stay tuned via the newsletter or alternatively, connect to our Saint Augustine's Arts Page on Facebook to receive all upcoming events information.

We need costumes, so if you have any old shirts that we can take and dye, your help here would be appreciated. Please contact Phoebe Ballard or me, Samantha Olding, at the email addresses below if you can assist with costuming. pballard@cns.catholic.edu.au & solding@cns.catholic.edu.au
