St Monica's Feast Day & Cultural Afternoon

Friday 18th August

We will celebrate St Monica’s Feast Day on Friday 18th August starting with whole school Mass at 9.30am in the Jaara Centre.

Mercy Education History

Enthused by the teaching of Jesus Christ and inspired by the vision of Catherine McAuley, Mercy Education aims to foster justice, compassion, hope and hospitality in the Mercy tradition. We commit ourselves to the provision of a supportive environment where we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our schools.

Our commitment is drawn from and inherent in the teaching and mission of Jesus Christ, with love, justice and the sanctity of each human person at the heart of the gospel. (c. 330 – 387)

Later in the day we will host a cultural diversity afternoon starting at 2.30pm where we will showcase the different cultures in our school community. On this day students are invited to dress in their ancestral costumes/attire and we are asking families to prepare a traditional dish from your culture that can be shared by the school community.

(Bite size samples if possible).

It would be lovely if each family could also prepare an A4 size poster at home describing their Families Heritage. These will be displayed in the Jaara Centre.
