Middle School
Year 7E - The year so far…
As we reach the midpoint of the year, I would like to acknowledge the tremendous growth and unity among our Year 7E Home Group class. They have blossomed into a supportive and loving group, embracing College events and enjoying their subjects.
Christian studies has been a highlight this past semester. For example, they have had the opportunity to delve into the inspiring life of Corrie Ten Boom, which not only taught them about her courage and faith but also helped them explore their own principles and values. This self-awareness and moral compass-development will guide them through their teenage years. These lessons fostered empathy, compassion, and an appreciation for forgiveness.
Alongside their classroom studies, the Year 7s enthusiastically visited the Gorge Wildlife Park during Term 2. This educational trip focused on learning about classification in science. It provided a hands-on experience where they could observe and understand the diversity of wildlife in a natural setting.
Participation in various College events such as SACSA Sport and the Music Showcase have displayed the talents and enthusiasm of our Home Group. Their unwavering support for one another has demonstrated the inclusive and caring environment we strive to cultivate within our College community.
Every Wednesday morning a different class member prepares their own devotion to share with our Home Group. These have been thought-provoking and well received, allowing each student to express their unique personalities, faith and values while strengthening the bond between them. They have supported and uplifted one another as they have embraced this new challenge.
I am looking forward to watching them continue to develop and grow throughout the remainder of the year.

Landscape Architect Workshop
A small group of Year 9 - 11 students were invited to participate in a workshop with a Landscape Architect company to help create a beautiful outside space in our school. The purpose of this workshop was to ask for student ideas in regard to transforming current car park and asphalt spaces into wonderful areas for students to enjoy with our new build.
The workshop, conducted on Thursday in Week 1, was a very interesting process for the students to experience. It provided them with valuable insights into the essential attributes of well-designed outdoor spaces and how to individualise what will be a significant new area for Emmaus students of the South Plympton Master Plan. There were some great ideas that incorporated both biodiversity and water sensitive urban design.
We also enjoyed a lovely morning tea (that included too many donuts), but best of all, was the student voice in creating a beautiful future outside space at Emmaus.
