Captains' Corner

Heleni Pulu and Rachael Walsh, Chapel Captains

Last week, the College celebrated its annual Faith Week!

This year’s theme was 'walk by faith, not by sight' and there were activities taking place every morning tea and lunch. To us, this theme means letting our faith guide our lives. It’s about looking beyond the physical things for reassurance, for answers to your questions, for peace.

Some highlights of the week included the Chapel Band video, the Faith Week cake and banner, and the Faith Week kahoot with a massive first prize. The Seniors also went to read to the youngest members of the College on Friday, which was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for everyone involved. Other activities included face painting and chalk drawing for the Primary School students, as well as guest speakers for the Primary School Chapel.

A consistent highlight throughout the week was undoubtedly the Chapel Band performances. They put a lot of practise into getting ready for Faith Week, and played at Staff, Primary and Secondary Chapel Services. As well as that, the entire College community got enthusiastically involved in Chapel Band’s 'Open Mic' performance outside of MU2. The favourite song by far was 'My Lighthouse', and there was some stunning singing and dance moves displayed by the Secondary School students.

As we approach a stressful period of the year for everyone, this year's theme reminds us that our worth is not determined by our achievements, our grades, or our failures. Your value is as limitless as God’s love for you.

Finally, we would love to invite everyone along to this term’s ISCF event! These are held every term with Brisbane Boys' College (BBC) and Somerville House and are not only a great way to think a little more about faith, but also a lot of fun!

This term, BBC will be hosting a Bush Dance on Saturday 12 August. There will be a short Chapel Service beforehand and pizza to enjoy. The theme is 'music' and there will be prizes - so dress up as your favourite artist or song! If you want more details, please contact us, or speak with Rev Yarrow or Mrs Patterson.
