Mrs Anna Nasr

In Our Prayers

We pray for all of our Marist Ashgrove community who are suffering in seen and unseen ways as they process the loss of our much loved Year 12 student.

Clare Locke Education Officer – Catholic Identity at Brisbane Catholic Education is a gifted poet and prayerful writer. Her heartfelt words about a mother losing her child have been shared with the Marist Ashgrove community at this sad time.

Mary Wept
Her boy
He’d left her for the temple long ago
Wandered into the lives
Of the broken and forgotten
They followed him
But he was still her boy
Her wondering hesitant yes
Her unexpected change
Her unending joy and worry
Her dying boy
For a moment there
While she held him
The broken weight of him
The blood and dust of him
She remembers the beginning
The gasping cries
The living breath
Of her baby boy

Mary Our Good Mother,

St Marcellin Champagnat,

Mary of the Cross McKillop

Let us always remember, to pray for one another.

Welcome

Marist Ashgrove would like to say a big welcome to our new Youth Minister Mikael Pitot, he has joined the Mission Team and is at the College on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Mikael is currently studying at the Australian Catholic University, Banyo. He is specialising in Mathematics, Religious Education and History. Mikael has been a regular volunteer with Marist Youth Ministry, so he is familiar with our Marist story and charism. Mikael has also been a regular volunteer with the St Vincent de Paul Society which also means he will be joining the Vinnies Group for the World Youth Day Pilgrimage in Lisbon and a side detour to France to visit the familiar sites linked to the founder of St Vincent de Paul, Frederic Ozanam. We have only spent a week together, however, his transition into his position and the Mates program amongst other activities and events has been seamless.

Teaching Sacraments Webinar

Mission will be hosting the following this week: The screening of Fr Richard Leonard’s Webinar on Teaching Sacraments Wednesday the 26 July 3:30pm-5:00pm.

Fr Richard has served on juries at the Venice, Berlin, Warsaw, Hong Kong, Montreal, Brisbane and Melbourne International Film Festivals and he has lectured on faith and culture all over the world. He is presently the parish priest of North Sydney. Fr Richard has been published in America Magazine, Eureka Street, US Catholics, is a regular columnist with The London Tablet and is often on ABC Radio. He is the author of 13 books including Hatch, Match and Dispatch: A Catholic Guide to Sacraments.

A note from ROSIES Kitchen:

Thank you, Marist College Ashgrove, for all the support that you have given us over the years. Rosies Kitchen would be so grateful if you could help us spread the mission of Rosies and learn more about the patrons you have had an impact on this year by reading and sharing our current newsletter here:

St Vincent de Paul

We invite students from Years 7–12 to join our St Vincent de Paul conference.

We meet every Thursday during SECOND break in Room 801.

The group is a wonderful testament to the way our students respond to the call to stand with others.

We are back serving Vinnies BBQ to the Marist Ashgrove community on Thursday mornings in the main yard. We are always happy for new volunteers. PRICES: $2.00 for a snag in bread or $2.50 for a snag and bacon.

We are planning to run a sporting competition in Term 4 to raise awareness and funds.

Much to do and much to plan for – all students from Years 7 – 12 are welcome to join and assist.
