Scienceworks Excursion

We had a great time on our trip to Scienceworks this week! Students enjoyed a workshop in the lightning room where we investigated how energy can change, turned electricity into sound and learned about keeping safe in a lightning storm.

We also had lots of fun exploring a variety of sections in the museum where we completed different sporting challenges and looked at exciting new technology that could change our future!

A special thanks to Miss Mitchell for organising the day, Mr Daenke for taking care of the medication and to the rest of our amazing Year 3/4 team for helping the day to be a success.

Pyjama Day - Fundraiser

Students had a wonderful time dressing up in their PJs and enjoying a variety of mindfulness activities throughout the day. Thankyou so much to everyone for their donations - our relaxation zone is going to be amazing!

Learning in Weeks 7 & 8

Mathematics: This fortnight, students will begin exploring 'Patterns and Algebra' in our Fluid Groups. Due to a few events, we postponed last week's Applied Maths to this fortnight where we will look at 'Volume' and use what we have learned to design a swimming pool!

Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will look at writing Procedural texts. Our first lesson will be sure to get them excited about this topic - make sure to have a look out for some photos in our next newsletter!

In Reading, we will continue to participate in reading groups, independent conferences and whole group reading activities using a range of different texts. Students have been particularly enjoying our weekly reading activities where they get to choose the topic we learn about!

Topic: This fortnight, students will continue to build and test their own balloon-powered cars! As our students are finding out, it can be quite tricky to make a design that allows the car to move smoothly and quickly.
