Term 3, Week 6

Upcoming Events

Book Week

We will be having a dress up day on the Friday of Week 7. Please dress up as a character from your favourite story. If you can bring in the story to match your costume, we will be reading them throughout the day!

Ballarat Wildlife Park

Our Prep excursion is on Wednesday 30th of August. Please provide permission and payment via Compass. This year we have enough staff members for the excursion but we want to thank everyone who has offered to come with us.

What we have been up to...

Buddies

Last week, our Buddies wrote us stories and came up to read them to us. Thanks Buddies!

Science Week

This week we have become scientists who have been predicting, gathering evidence and conducting experiments to help understand the world around us. We have learnt about liquids, solids and gasses and sound/vibration.

Maths

This week we have been learning about teen numbers. We know that if there is a '1' at the start it is a teen number, but that one actually means 10. We have been practising all the ways to make the numbers from 11-15.

Chris Kennett Incursion

Today we had Chris Kennett come to talk to us about being an illustrator and how important it is to keep trying, even if something is tricky. He told us all about how he became an illustrator, he read us one of his brand new stories that hasn't been released yet and he taught us how to draw the main character from his new book

Reminder

Reading Comprehension

We are currently focusing on our understanding of the stories that we read. When you read with your child, please make sure to ask the questions at the back of the book after the story has been read.  There are additional comprehension questions in your child's reading log book (see below).

Spare underwear/pants

There are a lot of children who are having small toileting accidents at the moment. Please make sure that your child has a spare pair of underwear and pants in their bag at all times. We will have to call you to bring up a change of clothes if there are no spares.
