Education in Faith

We have recently had many opportunities to gather as a Faith Community in prayer and reflection!

Grandparents and Special Friends' Day 2023

What a brilliant success this was at our school! Other sections of this newsletter will talk about the fantastic shared activities and chance to see our classrooms, but the day began with a beautiful chance to pray together. Starting with some scripture:

We love because he first loved us

This is a beautiful concept to reflect on! Jesus set a brilliant example on how to love and care for others, even those who persecuted him! It also however helps us to reflect on the people in our lives who have shown us love in both big and small ways. Our family, friends, teachers, colleagues and even people who may have only been in our lives for a moment, but inspire us and prompt us to act with compassion and care. We asked students on the floor to share who they thought of when reflecting about love, and the answers were truly beautiful! Our student cohort could have discussed their family and friends for the rest of the day given the chance!

We then shared some prayers of the faithful, to reflect and pray together.

Eucharist 2023

We are moving closer to the celebration of our next Sacrament, Eucharist. Students have been working diligently in the classroom to learn about this and all of the sacraments of the Catholic church. Last week we celebrated our Family Faith Night which was a fantastic success. Families and candidates gathered to discuss Eucharist and complete activities together. Further to this Father Leenus came and spoke to all gathered, continuing to show his brilliant support for our school.

These are just two examples of the ways in which we keep the Lord with us in our actions and activities at school. We give thanks for the gifts which we have been given, and ask for support and guidance in times of difficulty or stress.

We cannot wait to celebrate our Eucharist Retreat with our Year Four students next week, followed by the Sacrament on the weekend. We know this will be a beautiful ceremony and another chance to celebrate at St Anthony's.

Take care,
