Dear Families
GRANDPARENTS AND SPECIAL FRIENDS’ ACTIVITIES
What a beautiful opportunity for two generations to come together in celebration of what each has to offer to our world. The day commenced with a Prayer celebrating the importance of family and bringing together two generations where family values and life experiences could be brought together and sustained for the nourishment of each family.
A special Morning Tea brought together the adults where they could share their own stories and chat about their grandchild or special child that made them feel needed and important.
After recess everyone was involved in the activities in the classroom which allowed the children to proudly show their abilities in their working cooperatively with their experienced elders and bring about learning for both in a fun and engaging way.
Thank you to the approximately 90 grandparents and special friends who came along to our school and participated in this event and took the opportunity to work alongside the younger generation.
The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA)
The Authority has released an updated version of the Mathematics curriculum with which our staff will begin to work with. As with any updates from VCAA the intentions are to improve the contents by adjusting the outcomes required to achieve the standards.
As part of the staff professional learning our Curriculum Leaders ensure that the staff are current with the new requirements as set out by the Curriculum Authority.
First Eucharist
As we approach next week the Year 4 students are preparing themselves for receiving the Sacrament on Sunday 27 August. May we pray for them as they receive the Sacrament so that their hearts may be filled with God's goodness and blessing. A special Thank you to their teachers, Mr Tim O'Mahoney, Mr Taylor Butler and Mrs Emma Clausen who have prepared the students for the Sacrament and to the parents who will make this a special event for them.
Australian Book Week
The annual Book Week celebrations take place next week with special authors coming to visit the students and of course our special dress up parade. Everyone is welcome to come along on Friday as your favourite book character and join in part of the fun activity. Thank you to Mr Tim O'Mahoney for organising all the events in the lead up to the week.
Sincere regards.
