COHR Library - The BOOK FAIR was a huge success
BOOK FAIR
THANK YOU for supporting our annual Book Fair. We had many families visiting to see the books on offer and discuss with their children their wishlists. A variety of books were purchased by students and families also took the opportunitty to purchase books for gifts. This all contributed to a successful Book Fair that resulted in a commission of $600 which will be spent on new books for our Library.
Thank You to Lorraine who welcomed familes each morning and to staff who assisted with sales after school. A team effort with our school library being rewarded, which in turn really means that are students are going to thoroughly enjoy the new books!
BOOK WEEK: "READ, GROW, INSPIRE"
Every year the CBCA (Children's Book Council of Australia) celebrates Book Week. This year's theme is READ, GROW, INSPIRE! A selection of newly published books from the previous year are short listed into varying categories. In our Library lessons, students explore the Picture Book, Early Childhood and Young Readers sections and vote on who they think will be the overall winner in each section.
Over the term, books are read, authors and illustrators examined and book responses completed.
COHR celebrates Book Week with a parade and buddy book activities. We will be holding our Book Week Day on Friday 8th September. Students are asked to come to school dressed as a book character and bring along the book if they have a copy. It could be a favourite character or one from any book that you have read. The day will start with our school parade in the courtyard then students will complete fun activities throughout the day.
Please visit the library if you would like to view these or other books or get some inspiration for a dress up idea. Remember there are many book characters in picture books that don’t have costumes but wear normal casual clothes.
