From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to another newsletter!

I hope that you all had a relaxing break during the holidays, I know some families took the opportunity to escape the middle of winter whilst others enjoyed the break from school routines. No matter what you managed to do, I hope there was time for family activities and fun times.

The students have all done a fantastic job settling back into school routines and we have had a wonderful start to Term 3. Staff are beginning to bring our School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports (SWPBS) into classrooms before our official launch for Term 4. The events planner is looking busy with dress-up days, book and science weeks, camps, and Years 5 and 6 swimming to name just a few.

On Friday, we farewelled Suzanne Lichtenauer and wished her fun times in her retirement. Suzanne finished at OGPS at the end of 2023 but has been back last week and this week to help us out in Performing Arts. Suzanne began teaching here at OGPS when there were still different campuses in operation and was based out of the site where the English Language School is currently located before moving here with the amalgamated schools. Suzanne will now have time to travel with her family and I am sure that you will all join me in wishing her all the best in her retirement.

In staffing news - Buni Hasvong is now teaching 1MC and Nathaniel Caddy will be joining us as the full-time Performing Arts teacher. Mr Caddy was our Spanish teacher last year, so will be a familiar face to most students here at OGPS. Whilst Mrs Fellowes and Ms Hasvong will not be teaching Performing Arts this semester they will continue to oversee the performance club.

We have now submitted the first part of our building submission - thank you to everyone who participated in providing feedback during this process as it really helped us form the answers we needed. The school council approved the submission last week and we now await stage 2 of the process - I will update you as soon as I know.

Cheers

Michelle
