Ministry and Care

Pastor Peter Janetzki

School camps are a rarity nowadays, so I thought I would share with you some of my observations from the Year 4 Camp at Hamilton.  We managed to squeeze this camp in between lockdowns.

  1. Kids will always be kids.  One of camp’s highlights was Hamilton’s adventure play-ground.
  2. Watching sheep being shorn was a real eye-opener for some students.
  3. Even at 4:00am, it is vital to ensure no more than two boys venture into the toilets at a time. Otherwise you will find yourself expelling 10 plus boisterous boys from the very same amenities at 4:30am.
  4. Popping fidget pads sounds like the cracking of knuckles in the middle of the night.
  5. It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a Year 4 boy to want a shower.
  6. When a Year 4 lad loses something, always check his bag first. You are almost certain to find it, as this is the last place he will look.
  7. There was nothing better than watching senior students from our sister school in Hamilton help our kids get a taste of life on a farm.
