WHERE CHILDREN LOVE TO BE

ART NEWS

Hi SMPP Families and student artists!

This year we will be having an Online Art Show

The date is TBD but most likely somewhere in November. This will include lots of the work the students have completed this year including at school and at home. I won't be able to include all of the students work but they will definitely have at least one piece included that I will choose.

I will also have one 'show room' that will include art work that students have completed in their own time during lockdown. If students would like to make one submission for this they can upload a picture of their work to the Seesaw ‘Art Show’ activity which was uploaded on Wednesday the 18th and can be found in the ‘Online Art Show’ folder.

This is totally up to students as to what they would like to create. It could be 2D or 3D. A painting, drawing, something you have constructed, modelled, sewed, printed or collaged... the creative options are endless. Student’s may include some text describing their artwork (think...why, when, how?).

I look forward to seeing submissions.

Enjoy getting crafty and creative artists!

STEM NEWS

Happy 2021 Science Week SMPPS STEMgineers!

This year’s Science week was from the 14th to the 22nd of August 2021 and the theme was Food: Different by Design.

We were introduced to George the Famer during this week’s remote learning about Dairy and how it gets to our table.

The scientist in Prep and Year 1 and 2 attended a Live lesson. The lesson involved predicting, investigating and observing different sizes of cheese(dairy) melting. They were all fantastic scientists constructing reasons to why certain size cheese melted quicker than others. Thank-you Cooper S 1/2V, Jovan, Helena and Mekdes for being amazing scientist helpers in our STEM experiments live lessons!

The Multiage team experienced, Virtual Reality (VR) at home with George the Farmer, which was a unique experience we would like to do more of when we can.

Students could be seen taking lots of pictures of different dairy products, fruit and vegetables on Seesaw. This resulted in noticing how different all the foods we have are. Our school scientists even observed what happens when we cut an apple and leave it out!

!!!Beware next few pictures are of Food uploaded by our wonderful STEMgineers!!!
