Prayer for Child Safety

Gracious God,
You love and care for all of your children, especially the smallest and most vulnerable.
We entrust to you the lives of children and adults who have been sexually abused, and whose trust and innocence have been destroyed.
Help us to hear their cries of pain and to take responsibility for those whose lives have been broken.
Help us to recognise the hurt felt by those wounded by abuse and the failure to be heard.
We pray that with the help of your grace communities and families will find understanding and support, so that now and in the future their wounds may be healed and they may find lasting peace.
Let your grace and love fall gently now upon our children and adults at risk, giving them the inner strength, peace and resilience to seek out assistance when required.
We ask this prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.
Amen
Mother of Mercy pray for us. Live, Jesus, in our hearts, for ever!
Safe Guarding Sunday
Safe Guarding Sunday, September 12, comes as a conclusion to National Child Safety Week.
On this day, the Catholic Church acknowledges the immense damage caused by sexual abuse and invites us to pray for those harmed, directly and indirectly, from the enormous betrayal of trust in the past.
We remember, with compassion, all who have suffered because they were not kept safe. They were betrayed and abused. Their lives were changed forever by those who had power over them and in whom they put their trust. Many lives were cut short and so many more suffered and are still suffering, every day of their lives.
We cannot change what has happened, but we can bring light into the darkest corners and never forget. We can remember, work and pray, so that such evil does not happen again.
The important legal, moral and spiritual responsibility to create a safe and nurturing environment for the students in our care is at the forefront of every activity undertaken at school, so National Child Safety Week is very important for us and for every school community.
The dignity of every human person is at the heart of the Gospel, so the fundamental right of every student, entrusted to our care, to be respected and nurtured is a compelling aspect of what we offer as a Catholic school.
Trinity College is wholly committed to ensuring the safety, wellbeing and dignity of all children.
