Principal's Report

Issue No 10 - 5 April 2023

Term 1 - Week 10

Holy Week is the week beginning with Palm (Passion) Sunday and ending with “Holy Saturday”. Focusing on these significant times in Jesus' life and death provides a wonderful opportunity to develop faith in the community gathered.

Palm Sunday: On this day the Church celebrates Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem.

Holy Thursday: The evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum. In the celebration of Eucharist we celebrate the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood, and Christ’s commandment of love.

Good Friday: The celebration of the Passion in the afternoon at about three o’clock has remained substantially unchanged for more than a thousand years

Holy Saturday: On Holy Saturday the Church waits at the Lord’s tomb, meditating on his suffering and death. The altar is left bare, and the sacrifice of the Mass is not celebrated during the day.

Easter Vigil: After sunset on Holy Saturday the Easter Vigil begins, awaiting the resurrection of Jesus.

School Swimming Carnival

What a wonderful day we all had last Friday for the School Swimming Carnival, a little chilly but a great experience for our students.  Special thanks to Alana Vaughan for the preparation and success of the day.

Social Media Session

Thanks to the parents and students who participated in the Social Media session on Monday night.  A very informative and engaging session by Grant Fitzgerald.  As discussed during the presentation these websites have excellent information for further conversations with our children.

Caritas Ks

Tomorrow, Thursday 6th of April we look forward to running the annual Caritas K’s event beginning at 9:00am. All parents are welcome to come down and enjoy the walk/run with the students. We will encourage no dogs during the event due to child safety. Whilst the students enjoy the opportunity to walk and run around  Lake Weeroona, the Caritas Ks is an opportunity to fundraise and educate people at our school, and wider community in social justice, with the aim of inspiring them to "be more" and "be a voice" for the poorest in our world.

Final Liturgy & End of Term

School term finishes Thursday 6th April at 2:30pm. Preceding the end of term our students will participate in a final liturgy in the hall at 2pm.

School Closure - Term 2 Start Date

Please note there will be a Pupil Free Day on the first day of Term 2, Monday 24th April, followed by the ANZAC Day Public Holiday Tuesday 25th April.  Therefore Term 2 starts on Wednesday 26th April.  Please mark these dates on your calendars.

School Cross Country

On Wednesday 26th April, the first day back, our students will be participating in the School Cross Country.  This whole school event will be held at Strathdale Park Ovals from approximately 9.30am – 12.30pm.  The aim of the event is to encourage students to try their personal best, and to practise persistence and resilience. Our school cross country is also a qualification event for Grade 3-6 students for Division Cross Country. The top 10 competitors in each Gr 3-6 age group will automatically qualify for the Division event to be held the following week on 3rd May at Bendigo Racecourse.

Winter Uniform

Students continue to wear their summer school uniform for the remainder of Term 1 and transition into winter uniform commencing with the start of Term 2.  Our school based uniform shop sells all items via QKR app.  See our school website for details.

To the whole school community, I wish you a very happy and enjoyable holiday break and look forward to seeing all of the students returning safely to school next term. I hope you have an enjoyable Easter celebration, filled with love and joy.

God Bless
