Lightning Premiership

Last Wednesday 7th June, Year 6 and some Year 5 students competed at Lightning Premiership.  This is where we play against other schools in our District in either AFL, Soccer, Netball or Newcombe.  We all had a really fun day!

The AFL team won all games and will compete against Devon Meadows in the District Playoffs, to earn a place at Division.  The date for the playoffs is TBC.

Our Netball Team 1 (Year 6s) had a great day, getting better with each match and winning one.   Our Netball Team 2 (Year 5s) also had a great day, coming 4th in the comp with only 5 players (2 down all day).

Both Soccer teams had a fun day, with a few players down across the board.  No wins but 2 goals were scored and apparently lots of stops!  Sounds like great defensive pressure!  Newcombe – both teams down a few players too, but both teams won approximately half their games, which is a fab effort!  What stood out most across all sports was our teamwork and sportsmanship towards each other but also to the other teams.  Well done to all our competitors.

Train Like a Vixen

On Tuesday 13th June, our Year 3/4 students had to the opportunity to go to the State Netball Centre to take part in Train Like a Vixen. The students got to participate in 7 different skill rotations including footwork, passing/catching, game play, midcourt strategy, shooting, obstacle course, as well as attacking and defending techniques. Everyone had a really fun day and were totally exhausted! Year 5 and 6 will get the same opportunity next Tuesday, 20th June.
