This is our final newsletter for Term 2.  Next Friday 23rd June students will be dismissed at 2:30 pm and will return to school on Monday 10th July for the first day of Term 3.

Bikes and Scooters at School

If your child rides their bike or scooter to school, please remind them that they must walk

with their bike/scooter on school grounds.   At the school gate, they must get off their bike/scooter and walk to the Bike Shed (and vice versa when leaving at the end of the school day).

End of Semester Reports and 3 Way Conferences

This afternoon parents will be able to access Semester 1 student reports on Compass. Reports for students in 3B and 3D will be published early next term.  On Tuesday evening next week students and parents will be able to meet with class and specialist teachers to discuss student reports and goals for Semester 2.  Due to staff absence parents of students in 3B, 3D and 6B will be able to meet with class teachers on Tuesday 18th July. Compass bookings for these conferences will open up from the beginning of next term.

Parents Helpers

Are you interested in being a Parent Helper at our school?   We will be holding a Parent Helpers course for parents who are interested in helping in school or who may wish to help at camp or on excursions.

If you are interested, I invite you to attend an important information session where we will be outlining the expectations of helpers, ways to offer assistance and the Working With Children Check application process.   You must attend this training to be eligible to be a helper.   If you have attended a training session in previous years and have completed all of the requirements, you do not have to attend the information session again.

Please contact the school office if you wish to register for this course.

School Choir Performance

Our recently formed School Choir had their first public performance last week at the Clyde Shopping Centre. They did an amazing job.

We are very proud of you all and congratulations to Mrs G for leading a wonderful performance.

Slinky Apples

Due to the success of our Slinky Apples fundraiser, we have decided to give students one final opportunity to purchase a Slinky Apple this term. Next Friday on the last day of Term 2 students will be able to purchase slinky apples from the canteen at recess for 50c.

Staffing Update

We are very pleased to welcome 3 new staff members to our school.  Mrs Nicole Murnane will be teaching PE to our Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 students.  Ms Jessie Baldwin will be working with students in Foundation and Mr Brock Honeysett will be working with students in Year 3.

Whole School Assembly

Next week we will hold our final Whole School Assembly for Term 2 on Monday morning at 9:15am in the gymnasium.  The results of the Writing Competition and the Lollies in a Jar fundraiser will be announced during the assembly.  Parents are very welcome to attend.

Winter Wonderland

On Wednesday students across the school had the opportunity to dress in winter themed clothes for the day. The Student Representative Council (SRC) selected this theme to raise funds for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and $501.10 was raised which is a fantastic effort by everyone.

Year 6 Big Day Out fundraisers

Fundraising for our Year 6 big day out has been very successful this term.  Students have

had the opportunity to participate in our free dress day at the beginning of the term and our slinky apples fundraiser.  This week many students have had attempts to guess the amount of lollies in our jars, winners will be announced on Monday at assembly.  Next term, we are hoping to continue to fundraise for our students with a whole school pyjama day and a movie and popcorn day.

Upcoming Events Next Term

There will be a variety of upcoming events early next term.

NAIDOC Week will be celebrated the first week back at school.  This year the theme is: For our Elders.

On the 19th July there will be a Pyjama Day where students will be able to attend school in their favourite pyjamas for a gold coin donation.  This is to raise funds for our Year 6 Big Day Out.

Students in Years 5 and 6 will be attending Waratah Beach Camp from Wednesday 26th July to Friday 28th July and later on in the term students in Years 3 and 4 will be attending The Portsea Camp from Wednesday 16th August to Friday 18th August.
