Seeking Host Families For French Students
Frankston High School has 10 French students arriving from our sister school Lycee Jean Zay for seven weeks for their annual visit to our school.
They arrive on Sunday 3 July and depart on Sunday 21 August 2016.
We encourage all Frankston High School students to consider hosting one of our French visitors during one of the following periods:
There will be three host block dates to choose from:
*Sunday 3 July-Sunday 17 July (2 weeks)
*Sunday 17 July- Sunday 7 August (3 weeks)
*Sunday 7 August-Sunday 21 August (2 weeks)
Please indicate preferences on the French Host Family form attached below.
The French students are 16-17 years old and will attend Year 10 or Year 11 classes with their own timetable. They do not need their own room, lockers and uniforms are supplied.
Past host families have found the cultural experience rewarding, enjoyable and has assisted with the study of the French language.
We will be relying on the generosity of host families to provide food and accommodation.
Attached is a French Host Family form to complete and return to the 7-10 Campus or Senior Campus Office. A Working with Children Check information form is included (if applicable).
Please contact Ms Thomson on 0409 835 541 or email athomso@fhs.vic.edu.au for further information.
Casual Dress Day
On Friday 6 May, the Student Leadership Council (SLC) hosted a Casual Dress Day to raise money for Solider On. Soldier On supports those who have served and provides a suite of services and access to partner organisations to meet the needs of our wounded so that they can start their journey on the road to recovery. In total, Frankston High School raised $2005, this is a fantastic effort by all. Well done!

What you can do to raise a resilient teenager
FREE online parenting program empowering parents to make sense of adolescence and parent their teenager with confidence.
As children become teenagers, it can be hard for parents to know the best way to stay connected with their child. Partners in Parenting is a new online parenting program that has been shown to help improve parent-child communication and reduce family conflict. Through interactive online activities, parents can develop skills in emotional intelligence, supporting their teenager through difficulties they face, and maintaining a close relationship with their teen. This program was developed by researchers at Monash University and the University of Melbourne, and is based on Parenting Guidelines that were published in partnership with Beyond Blue, and have been accessed and found helpful by thousands of parents worldwide.
Researchers are currently evaluating the longer-term benefits of the program by offering parents in Australia the opportunity to try it for free. If you are a parent or guardian of a child aged 12 to 15, you may be eligible to participate. Participation will take a few hours of yours and your child’s time over 12 months. Both you and your child will be reimbursed for your time.
Find out more or register at www.partnersinparenting.net.au,
