Upper Primary

PKO

During electives on Wednesdays, a group of 10 students have participated in Science activities. These activities are usually very hands on and often cause lots of mess! Although these are great fun, there is also lots of learning that is happening. We have learnt about solids and liquids and the water cycle. Our sessions include lots of following different instructions and measuring ingredients. It has been great to see students so engaged in hands on learning!

PJF

PJF are really enjoying learning about the Farm. We have focused on Dairy Farms and how milk gets from the farm to our local supermarket. We have also enjoyed making scarecrows and discovering how they protect fruit and vegetable crops.

Here is a photo of our scarecrows protecting the bean shoots we are growing.

PCC

This Term the Upper Primary section introduced a dance elective.  Each week the students learn popular dances like the Macarena, Whip Nae Nae, The Hokey  Pokey  and The Nutbush. Some of the students have taken on the challenge of choreographing a dance and everyone has supported each other to learn the moves and add ideas.

At the end of term the students will perform a dance at our section assembly in front of their friends.  All of us have a lot of fun dancing and singing and dressing up in costumes. It is great exercise and makes us feel happy.

PSP

At the beginning of Term 3, PSP went on camp to Phillip Island. It was a fun-filled camp with lots of exciting activities. Luckily, the weather was on our side and we were able to enjoy every minute.

The students went on an 18m high giant swing and went zipping down the flying fox. They mastered the art of archery and got to show off their golfing skills at Amaze n’ Things.

The highlight of camp was watching the Penguin Parade and visiting the ‘blow hole’ at the Nobbies.

What a fantastic time spent with the students.

PJT & PDJ

PJT and PDJ have been participating in the Jump Rope for Heart activities which SHJ are running.  Our students have had lots of fun learning new skipping skills and well as consolidating skills already learnt. The aim of the program is to promote exercise while raising some funds for the Heart Foundation. So when the Sponsorship forms come home please see if you can find some money to sponsor this worthy cause.

The major Jump Rope for Heart day will be September 21st when all Upper Primary students get together for the “Jump Off’. Thanks to all the students in SHJ for supporting our students in gaining new skills and having lots of fun while doing this.
