100 YEARS OF STEINER / WALDORF EDUCATION

Last Thursday, students in the Steiner program gathered in the theatre for an assembly to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the first Steiner/Waldorf School in Stuttgart. After an Acknowledgement of Country, students from Classes Six, Seven and Nine performed eurythmy, and Campbell spoke about the history of Collingwood College and of Steiner education. The assembly closed with a performance from the Senior Orchestra and singing for all. A big thank you to our Eurythmy teacher Rie Rossy for organising this special event.

SAN FRANCISCO WALDORF HIGH SCHOOL EURYTHMY TOUR - REQUEST FOR BILLETS & IRONING ASSISTANCE

Dear Collingwood Community,

We are excited to announce San Francisco Waldorf High School's Eurythmy Troupe's performance at Collingwood College on 19th & 20th February, 2020. They toured Korea this year, and next year they are touring Australia (Sydney at Glenaeon and Melbourne at Collingwood College).

As we are expecting 28 students from Year 10-12, we would like our community to host them on the 18th (arrival from Sydney) and the 19th. They are well-mannered students with love for Eurythmy. If you can host a student (or two, or more!), please contact Rie at  rossy.rie.r@edumail.vic.gov.au

We are looking for 8 volunteers for ironing eurythmy silk dresses for San Francisco Waldorf High School Eurythmy Troupe. There would be about 100 pieces to iron. The troupe would arrive at Collingwood on the 18th February, 2020 around 6:00pm and start preparing for their presentation till 8:00pm. We have two hours to iron the costumes on that night. Then the following day we would start ironing the remaining costumes from 8:30 till 11:00am approx. for their 1:00pm presentation. If you can volunteer at least two hours of ironing, please contact me.  Tuesday supper and Wednesday lunch would be provided to volunteers. We appreciate your contribution. Thank you.

P.S. We also look for good irons and boards as well.

Rie

Eurythmist (rossy.rie.r@edumail.vic.gov.au)

We sincerely ask for your support for this performance to become one of the most memorable events for Collingwood College.

Best regards,

Steiner College of Teachers

DRUMMING

Reggio Prep students have made drums in Art and have been learning to play the Kuku a traditional African song. Year 1/2 students explored drumming by using tin cans which they also used in Art to create a sculpture garden.

INDIGENOUS MURAL

Students at Collingwood College had a wonderful time painting the mural at GJK at Collingwood.

Working on the mural gave our school community the opportunity to be part of a project which generated a friendly relationship with GJK which is part of our local community.

It was lovely to see our local Mayor Danae Bosler come along and join in with the painting.

The warm community feeling continued when a sausage sizzle was arranged for the students to launch the Mural.  Our students were excited to attend this event.

Kindly supported by GJK
