French Poetry Competitions

We are thrilled to announce that later in the term, Andrea Pido of Year 10 will be representing the School in the Finals of the Berthe Mouchette French Poetry Competition at the Alliance Française in St Kilda. All students of the Year 9 and 10 French classes committed to memory a poem to recite as part of their spoken assessment last term. Their performances were judged on the familiarity of the students with the poem, on their pronunciation of the French text, as well as on their expression. Some of our students then went on to participate in the Victoria-wide Berthe Mouchette poetry competition. Andrea distinguished herself with a faultless performance; the judge’s notes described her recitation as “brillante” (brilliant).
Other SASC students noted by the Alliance Française judges for the quality of their French were:
Cindy Nguyen, Emily Cheng, Tommy Dinh, Trish Le, Nancy Nguyen and Daniel San Jose, who all obtained a “Mention honorable” (honourable mention).
Justine Nghiem, Knowledge Siologa, Darren Tang, Lauren Unger, Shikher Bhardwaj, Tung Huy Do, Delina Duong, Bicky Huynh, Lanieth Kara, Biak Lian Ching, Emirhan Nargile, Cammy Nguyen and Michelle Nguyen all obtained a “Mention”.
Félicitations à vous tous! Congratulations to all of you!
