The Day of Prayer for the Care of the Creation

Beginning Friday 1st of September to Wednesday 4 October, Christians around the world are praying and caring for creation. The “Season of Creation” is celebrated by Christian churches around the globe, uniting with one purpose: to steward the Earth.

A joint message was released on the morning of September 1st from Pope Francis and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, (Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch,of the Eastern Orthodox Church, since 2 November 1991) who for the first time wrote together on Themes of the Day. They invite all the faithful and all of good will to prayer and to reflect on how to live in a simple and solid manner, responsibly using earthly goods.

The Day of Prayer for the Creation of the Creation was instituted by Pope Francis in 2015. The Orthodox Church has commemorated the Day since 1989.

Sacraments

Term three has turned out to be a very busy time, especially for our middle school students and teachers. The Year 4 students received First Communion during the month of August and the Year 3 students First Reconciliation this week. We congratulate all students and we ask the Lord to keep them safe and protect them each and every day.

A prayer for the protection of children(a prayer suitable for parent or carer to pray for their children)

Almighty father in heaven,

I ask for your strong arms of protection

To be around our children.

That they may be held safely

Within your love.

Fill their days and nights with hope and joy

Fill their hearts and minds

With you truth and light.

We trust in you.

Amen.

First Reconciliation- Sacrament of Penance

The children in Year 3 will be receiving the 'Sacrament of Penance' on Thursday 14th September at 7pm at St Raphael's Parish Church. All are most welcome to join the children and their families for the Liturgy. We ask that you keep the following children in your prayers.

In Term Four we will be celebrating St Raphael's Day on Friday 20th October 2017. We will begin our celebration with a whole school mass commencing at 9am. We warmly welcome all present and past St Raphael's community to this celebration.
