Student activities and event highlights
On a beautiful day filled with sunshine, our students showcased their athletic abilities at our School Athletics Day on Tuesday the 14th of March. Throughout the day, senior students gave their all as they competed in a number of running events, along with hurdles, long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus. While our junior students demonstrated that there is a bright athletic future ahead at Trafalgar Primary School as everyone gave their all across a number of modified athletics events. It was fantastic to see so many of our students demonstrate great determination, effort, and talent throughout the day.
We would especially like to extend our gratitude to the parent volunteers and Trafalgar High School students who put in tireless efforts to make this day a memorable one for everyone involved. A special thanks also goes to our Parents and Friends committee for organising a delicious pizza roll lunch.
We would also like to congratulate each of our event winners and Age Champions. Your hard work, determination, and passion for athletics has paid off in a very big way. We can't wait to see what you all achieve representing Trafalgar Primary School at the Warragul District Athletics Competition on Monday the 27th of March.
Here are some excited winners holding up their envelopes of winning ribbons.

Over the last 4 weeks, all Foundation and Grade 1/2 students at Trafalgar Primary School have been participating in the Launchpad Gymnastics program during their Sport lessons.
The Launchpad Gymnastics program is focused on introducing children to gymnastics in a safe and enjoyable environment, while helping them develop fundamental movement skills and build self-confidence.
With the help of Miranda and Lily from Leongatha Gymnastics Club, students have spent these lessons practising basic gymnastics movements such as hand stands, cart wheels, somersaults and much more.
Today is National Ride to School Day. Today Over 350,000 students across Australia rode, walked, scooted or skated to school today.
National Ride2School Day is Australia’s biggest celebration of active travel. The day has helped thousands of schools to empower and enable students to get physically active on their journey to school, giving them the opportunity to create healthy habits for their future.
Over the past 40 years the number of children who are physically active everyday has significantly dropped. In the 1970s, eight out of ten students rode or walked to school but today that number has dropped to just two out of ten.
Students who ride or walk to school contribute to their minimum physical activity level of 60 minutes per day. They are also more focused and ready to learn compared to those who are driven.
Today 179 students from Trafalgar Primary School, Rode, walked, skated or scooted their way to school. The House Captains recorded the number of students that participated and awarded house points to these students. The results of the house competion were announced at Assembly.
1st place (54 participants) McGregor
2nd place (45 participants) Uralla
3rd place (43 participants) Davey
4th place (37 participants) Balfour
The results from the school will be uploaded to the National Completion database. Well done, everyone!
