Saint Patrick's Day (CSTs)

Mia P: On St Patrick’s Day the Catholic Social Teachings leaders (CSTs) went to the city to the biggest church in Melbourne called St Patrick’s Cathedral. Livinia and I carried our school banner into the church along with all the Catholic schools in Melbourne and represented our school. Then we sat down with the rest of our school and listened to the Archbishop and Bishops talking about the life of St Patrick. He was the patron saint of Ireland. Some of the other schools did a reading, while a choir sang the responses, then at the end of mass we saw Mrs Rowley! (the old principal of our school).

Livinia: Saint Patrick's Cathedral is over 200 years old, the biggest church in Melbourne. We were lucky enough to be able to go there. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral was built in 1858 by Samuel Jackson, architect of St Francis ‘ Church.  All of the special Catholic celebrations are held at the Cathedral. It was built to remember St Patrick in Ireland, the patron saint who blessed people during his time and baptised a lot of Christians.

Joshy: After the Mass we had a big party in the Treasury Garden. There were many activities for us to participate in and a little pond in the middle of the park. Most of the schools that were at the Mass went to the park and they were having fun. There were lots of children doing activities like cricket, soccer, hula hoops, bouncing and tug of war. There was also a big stage which had high school bands singing for the students.  We had fun eating and chatting to our friends and teachers and participating in many fun activities. It was a great way to celebrate the Feast Day of St Patrick.
