Hello Families and Friends of St Anthony's,
Dear Families and Friends,
March has been a busy, yet exciting month here at St Anthony’s! It has been a wonderful way to finish the term. We also have a lot to look forward to in Term Two. A special event I wish to bring your attention to is the Opening and Blessing of our refurbished Administration Building. You will find an invitation later in the newsletter.
Staff Conference
On the 6th and 7th of March all staff attended our staff conference. We worked on our School Improvement Plan for 2023 until 2026. This is the strategic plan for continuous improvement for St Anthony’s School for the next four years based on the feedback students, families and staff shared during our school review in 2022. Later in the newsletter I have shared the school improvement plan placement for all members of our community to see.
On the second day of our staff conference all staff visited the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre. Mary MacKillop was an educator, a pioneer and a leader, someone who had compassion for others regardless of their situation or race. She is an inspiration and to this day our only Australian Saint. As part of our visit we participated in a walking tour of the old laneways where Mary MacKillop spent her time living, visiting and caring for others. Staff also attended Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral.
Prep and Buddy BBQ
We were very fortunate with the weather and it was so wonderful to see so many students and their families at our Prep and Year 5/6 Buddy BBQ. Our Year 5/6 students enjoyed meeting the families of our Preps and it was great to see families meeting each other and making new friends.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day is a very special event on the St Anthony’s school calendar, a day in which we take time to acknowledge tradition, culture, diversity, building relationships and working together in harmony at St Anthony’s. It is a day where we work together to ensure everyone has a sense of belonging and feels important and included. We will share photos next week.
School Closure Day
On Monday 24th April there is no school as all staff will be attending an Interfaith Network Tour to places of Worship program. This will be a wonderful opportunity for staff to visit different places of worship, to further enhance our knowledge of our school community, their stories, faith and culture. Term Two begins on Wednesday 27th April.
End of Term
School finishes on Thursday 6th April at 2.30pm.
My Prayer for you this Easter:
May your Easter be happy,
May your day be bright
May you enjoy the treats, and sweet delights.
But remember the meaning,
Remember God's gift
Remember the Resurrection and
May your soul be uplift.
Wishing you a wonderful and blessed Easter break.
