Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Week 10 has arrived with gusto here at Sacred Heart!

Congratulations to our Year 3 and 5 students who completed their NAPLAN assesments last week. Thank you to Mrs Goddard, Mrs Fenton and Mrs Rees for preparing our students.

This week has seen our new furniture suite arrive for the Year 3-6 classroom. We are very fortunate to be able to make these improvements to this classroom and this almost completes our total internal refurbishment process of our school. Once al elements of the refurbishment are completed, we will look to organising a blessing of the spaces with Father Abmar.

We commenced our 2024 Kindergarten Transition process this week with a Parent Information Session and an opportunity for our transition students to participate in Easter Hat making for our parade next week. It is so lovely to welcome our transition students and their families to our school. Our transition students will join in with K-6 in our Easter Hat Parade to be held next Thursday 6 April from 9am - 9:30am. For students in K-2, they will make an Easter hat at school and for students in 3-6, they can make a hat at home and bring it in on the day.

Next Thursday we will be holding an Easter liturgy at the school at 9:30am after our Easter Hat Parade. All are welcome to attend.

Next week I will be adding a link for a parent survey regarding the school canteen. This is an excellent opportunity for the parent body to give their views on any potential changes to the canteen and its processes. I welcome all feedback in this consultation period. Once the survey has closed I will communicate the outcome through the newsletter and also forward this to the PTF. Following the completion of this process, if any changes are to be made this will occur from the beginnning of Term 3. This will allow us enough time to consult with parents and then table this feedback at the first PTF meeting next term.

For the beginning of Term 2 our staff will be participating in a Professional Development Day on Monday 24 April. As such, this day will be a pupil free day and we will welcome students back to school on Wednesday 26 April.

If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program this year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023, please encourage them to contact me at school.

Happy birthday to Claire who celebrates her 7th birthday on Tuesday 28 March. We hope you have a great day!

Take care,

Kath Baird
