Sports Roundup
Jarrod Warmington
Sport Coordinator
As you will have read in Issue 1, we had a huge start in sport this year, with the Swimming Carnival kicking off the term in Week 3.
Over 500 students attended a blistering hot day at Coburg Olympic Swimming Pool and participation was at an all time high. Following the swimming Carnival, 25 BSC students attended the Division Swimming competition, with 14 students advancing to attend the Regional Swimming competition. I am excited to announce that Year 8 student Alexander Nikolarakos has qualified for the State Swimming 50m Freestyle final which will be held in Week 1 of Term 2. We wish Alex best of luck for the comp! He is a great ambassador for BSC.
Term 1 has also seen a number of students competing in various Interschool Sport competition with all year levels being represented at Division level. We saw the Senior Boys Volleyball, Intermediate Boys Baseball, Year 8 Boys Volleyball and Cricket, and Year 7 Boys and Girls Volleyball all qualify for the Region championships and we wish them all the best.
We can now look forward to the Athletics Carnival in Week 1 of Term 2 as well as our Term 2 Interschool Sport competitionss – AFL, Soccer, Badminton and Netball.
Congratulations to all participants in sport for Term 1 and I encourage everyone to get involved for the remainder of the year.
