Principal's News

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Good afternoon families

This week we have celebrated Harmony Day and Grandparent/ Special friend Day. Both days were a wonderful day of celebration and a time to gather as a community.  You can see more celebration of these events on the other newsletter pages.  Thank you to all the Grandparents and special friends who braved the weather to come and participate in the morning.

During our closure days at the end of the term we will be moving into the new administration building and the Year One classes will be moving into the classrooms that the office and leadership have been in during the build process this will allow all our year one classes to be closely connected in one building.

Front Gates now open.

As our new administrations nears completion we are now able to use the front double gates to enter the school.  We request that parents no longer walk their children through the driveway and continue walking to the double gates and enter there.

Car Park and Road Safety

Can we please remind parents to be mindful of safe practices when dropping students off in the carpark and in surrounding roads.  We have had a large number of students jumping out of cars that are not parked and are still in the middle of the road or the carpark.  Our staff have witnessed some near misses resulting from this unsafe behaviour.

At the end of the day when picking up if the drop off zone is full we ask cars to continue into the carpark to park (if spaces are available) and not wait at the gates blocking traffic.

Bike Path Disruption

Kingston Council have notified us of works on the bike path at the back of the school next week.  They will have some detours in place but the track will remain open.

School Advisory Council (SAC) Members

It is a pleasure to introduce our members of our school advisory council.

Tanya Jhoohum

I have served 6 years on the SAC and 9 years on the the PFA, currently in the role of Vice President.

I have a son, Jacob in Grade 6 and a daughter, Jessica in Year 8 at Kilbreda.

My experience  as a parent member of the SAC over the last few years has been highly rewarding and I will always be grateful for  the opportunity.

Laurette (Laurie) Dixon

I have been a SAC member for the past few years. My daughter Chloe is in year 6 and I also have a year 8, Kara,  who was also educated at St Louis.  I enjoy being part of the SAC as it allows me to contribute to the school community and work with a great team of staff and parents.  I can assist with questions you may have about the SAC and point you in the right direction for Policies and Procedures or other matters you may like to raise.

Daniel Belton

I am joining the School Advisory Council this year and am excited to be able to contribute back to St Louis and the school community. Together with my wife Lorissa, we have 3 girls at St Louis in years 5, 3 and prep and our son Henry graduated from the school in 2022.

Nicole Dobrohotoff

I have two children at St Louis, Mia in Year 6 and Abby in Year 3. I am particularly interested in social and ecological justice so I joined our parish Justice Action Group 7 years ago and more recently our parish Catholic EarthCare steering committee.

Bill Tabourlos (Chairperson of the School Advisory Council)

I am a proud dad to two lovely girls, Samantha in grade three and Lucia in Prep. I live in Chelsea and enjoy spending time outdoors with my family. When I'm not busy with family activities, I can be found pursuing my hobbies of exercising, gardening, tinkering with computers, and watching movies. I currently work in the safety sector of the gas industry, where I am passionate about promoting sustainable and renewable energy practices in Australia. I am an active member and chairman of the school council and always open to discussing any concerns or ideas that fellow parents may have.

Julius Lau

Hi, I’m Julius, and I have three daughters attending Years 6, 4 and 2 in St Louis. I have been a part of the parish of St Louis De Montfort for 9 years now and have joined the SAC since 2021. The school has been wonderful for my children and I look forward to greater developments for this institution. I earn my keep as an international trade consultant, and love spending all my free time with my young family. I enjoy getting a sweat out through outdoor activities and whipping up a messy storm in the kitchen. I dread cleaning the house and prefer not to have coconut in my desserts. Come say hi and let’s have a chat, I look forward to meeting you.
