Junior School Update

Well, that’s a rap!

Term One has been action packed!

The Junior School students and staff have worked so hard to settle into their new year level, learning spaces, teaching and learning, sport obligations, and more.

Our Year 3 students have settled into Junior School very well. Teachers have worked hard with the students to ensure they feel comfortable and keen to learn and grow in their new learning Spaces!

Over the past fortnight, the Year 3 and Year 5 students have just finished their NAPLAN assessments NAPLAN tests the sorts of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and numeracy. It is important to remember that NAPLAN is not about passing or failing, but about assessing learning progress.

Year 5 students recently impressed us all with a fantastic assembly item with a great theme that promoted resilience, health, and wellbeing. A lot of effort went into this and received and huge round of applause!

Year 4 students have been busy learning about the difference between rules and laws, who is responsible for rules and laws, how communities influence our lives and most recently in line with Harmony Day, the Aboriginal people have a system of lore, passed down through generations.

As mentioned in the last eNewsletter, Year 6 students enjoyed a fantastic attended a camp at Woodman Point Campsite in Coogee. The Camp provided an opportunity for students to connect with their peers whilst building a sense of independence being away from their family and the comforts of home for two nights. This experience was fun-filled, educational and character-building.

In addition, among many other things Year 6 are also enjoying a Whole Class Novel - A Nation of Swaggies and Diggers (Jackie French).

Junior School wish everyone a blessed Easter and a restful school holiday in preparation for Term 2!
