Harmony Day

A big thank you to all the students and families who dressed in orange and supported our Harmony Day event on Tuesday 21st March.

Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Day as it signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect.

It was amazing to see the bright orange around our school as a visual representation of just how much we support harmony and unity among all cultures at SMDP!

The students all participated in a special classroom activity that highlighted how important harmony and mutual respect is to all of us. Students will continue to build on their knowledge and understanding of respect, inclusiveness and equality through the Respectful Relationships Education Program.

National Young Leaders Day

On Monday 27th of March, 12 of our SMDP student leaders went on an excursion to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre to participate in the National Young Leaders Day.

The event was organized by Halogen Australia, which exists to inspire & influence a generation of young people to lead themselves and others well. The students were asked the question: what does it mean to lead?

Our young leaders were able to listen to a range of inspirational leaders talk through their real life stories of leadership in a variety of fields.

The students listened to a variety of key speakers and even got a photo opportunity with tech inventor Amanda Johnstone. Her key message to the students was to visualize their goals, take risks and have the courage to follow their dreams. It was a wonderful experience for the students with inspiring messages to help them think about what type of leader they want to be.
