Principal's Message

It is hard to believe that we are at the end of our first term together at SMPD. Like me, I am wondering if you are asking, “Where has this time gone? How fast has it flown? What have we achieved?”

If we stop and reflect on what we have achieved in the first term, it is very clear what we have done with our time and we should begin these holidays feeling very proud.

We have settled 265 students as well as new staff to our school. We have welcomed 45 new preps students and their families into our school community.

We have spent time getting to know our students academically and personally. We are well on the way to fostering healthy student teacher relationships. We have met with you, our parents, to listen to the aspirations you have for your children at our learning conversations. This is all part of the SMDP vision of building an active and engaging learning community.

We have spent time setting our rules, expectations and our Ways of Working (WOWs), ensuring that they are understood by all, from our prep to our senior students. This will enable our students to feel safe in an exciting and stimulating learning atmosphere.

We have made our ‘learning visible’ to our students and discussed with them our ‘learning powers’ of motivation, resilience, reflection, curiosity, creativity and collaboration. These dispositions will lead our students to be confident learners and future successful citizens.

We have gathered and prayed together. We have played, we have stretched our minds, imagined and discovered through learning. We have strengthened old friendships and fostered new ones. Our time has been well used and successful on many different levels.

We have had our School Picnic, Opening School Mass, 5/6 camp, excursions, a sports day, Interschool sports, swimming lessons, subway lunches, an Easter Raffle and completed NAPLAN.  Just to list a few.

On reflection we have achieved so much together. No wonder so many of our students and staff are well ready for the Easter break.

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday and a peaceful Easter. I ask you to remember and reflect on the Easter message of forgiveness, hope and renewal. I am genuinely thankful for your support and encouragement throughout the term.

Don't forget to complete the ECSI survey over the holidays, as your feedback is very important to us.

The survey is only available through the project website; please refer to the Instructions for Survey Completion for Parents. Your responses to this survey are guaranteed to be kept anonymous.

Here is a tip sheet to help your if you need further support when logging into the portal

If you have any questions, please contact me through the school office.

Thanks for your ongoing support and commitment to SMDP and be proud of everything we have achieved as a school community.

Happy Easter!
