Affirmation Jars

Year 11 and 12 VCAL students created affirmation jars for the Grade ¾ students of St Joseph’s Primary School. 7 jars sent to Grades ¾, 1 for the library and 1 for the Spoonville that the VCAL students created. These were made on Monday the 19th of October and delivered to St Joseph's on Wednesday the 21st of October.

The finished affirmation jars were beautifully decorated and filled to the brim with positive messages.

Feedback from the VCAL students was:

“MAKING THE AFFIRMATION JARS FOR ST JOSEPH’S STUDENTS MADE ME FEEL HAPPY THAT I COULD GIVE SOMETHING BACK TO MY OLD PRIMARY SCHOOL.” CHRISTINE (Year 12)

“I wish that someone had made affirmation jars for me when I was at Primary School.” Jasmine (Year 12)

“Making the affirmation jars made me think positively too.” Ella (Year 11)

“I felt very happy that the affirmation jars we made were going to younger students who might need to feel positive.” Kaela (Year 12)

Vietnam Veteran Presentation

On Tuesday the 27th of October, VCAL students spoke to Vietnam Veteran Brendan Kincade. He is the Vice-President of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Victoria. He spoke to the students about his experiences in war, after the war, PTSD, how he met his wife and other important life experiences.

This is the feedback from VCAL students:

"It was the most interesting incursion that I have been to in a long time and really sad to hear how you (Brendan) were treated when you returned home. Brendan, you kept it engaging for us and answered all our questions." Christine

"It made me feel grateful for the life we live now. Brendan was very funny." Marisa

"It gave me an insight into what life was like for soldiers. I have a new respect for them. When the soldiers came back from Vietnam they weren't respected as much as I thought they should have been." Yianna
