5/6 News

How we feel about coming back to school:

Thomas: I was really excited to come back to school and see all my friends and teachers. Especially because this is my last year at this school. It took us some time to adapt to the school environment but once we did it was like there was no remote learning!

Lila: I’m so glad that we are no longer doing online learning. For now anyway. It is so great to see my friends and to socialize with real people and to experience real school again.  It was so refreshing to wake up and not go straight on a zoom and spend the day on a computer.

Audrey: I’m happy that we were able to come back to school since it is my last year and didn't want to miss all the fun and exciting things we get to do in year 6. I also missed seeing my friends and teachers since it was getting very boring having to see my sister everyday at home.

Some new rules about coming back to school:

Thomas: When having to come back to school we had to follow some more rules. These rules include washing your hands often, maintaining social distancing and staying in your class bubble. We are really excited to be back at school, even though we have to adapt to this new learning environment.

Lila: Going to school now is a lot different to pre COVID. We do have to social distance and wash our hands very often. We also sanitize our hands. And we aren’t even allowed upstairs either. I think that anything is better than nothing so this is a win for me.

Audrey: Some things that are different are that we have to wash our hands before we eat, we need to maintain social distance and always make sure that the 5/6’s don’t go upstairs. It’s very different and a bit strange so I think it takes a while for people to get used to it since we are all used to hugging, sharing food and not washing our hands a lot.

How we express ourselves:

Thomas: Our parents are the people who raised us, the people who helped us with those early steps in life, so we decided to talk more about this in inquiry. We discussed how we like some things that our parents may like and even things that our grandparents like.

Audrey: We looked at subcultures during inquiry, subcultures are cultures within a culture, for example things like the VSCO, fan clubs and a lot more.

Lila: How we represented ourselves over time. Our teachers showed us their childhood photos and how their parents shaped them as kids. They were pretty funny, We could also identify what sub cultures that they were in at that time.
