Stage 5 Agriculture Excursion

In the past week, Stage 5 went to "Glendara", Moree, to the Johnston's farm. On this excursion, students had the opportunity to work with livestock and be immersed in a mixed cropping enterprise. During this time, students finalised their competencies for their Certificate I in Agrifood Operations.

The Stage 5 class wish to express their gratitude towards the generosity of the Johnston's for hosting them.

Diocesan Debating

On the 25th of November, seven students from Year 8 participated in a debate against Saint Mary's, Gunnedah. Although there were only five students present, it was the preparation of the whole group that put the team together! The team consisted of three speakers, Harmony Phillips, Tabitha Cobb, and Grace Grantham, fourth speaker (rebutter) Tilly Hayes, and three writers Meg Cory, Arabella Drogumuller, and Selena McGrady.

The 26th of November, saw 4 students from Year 9 participate in a debate against Saint Mary's, Gunnedah. The four speakers were Bella Nash, Hannah Bailey, Sienna Ritchie and Georgia Brown.

Our teams presented their topics and argued their cases coherently; our Year 8 team walked away with another win, while our Year 9 team were gracious in defeat. Both teams should be congratulated for how they represented St Philomena's.
