Relieving Principal's Report - Mrs Karam

Dear Parents/ Carers,

WELCOME BACK

Welcome back to Term 4. Even though we are all living in uncertain times with COVID-19, at Fairvale PS we are looking forward to a fun-filled and busy term for everyone. I encourage all families to download the school App and like us on Facebook to keep up-to-date with school events as well as links to our school website.  A very special welcome to  new families who have commenced at Fairvale PS this term. Although we are unable to host our Parent Café, new families can access support from our community liaison officer, Miss Michelle and bilingual school learning support officer, Miss Samira.

FUTURE SCHOOL PLAN + VISION STATEMENT

Thank you to our wonderful parents/carers and community members who took the time to complete our survey at the end of Term 3. This information has been invaluable in helping us shape the vision for Fairvale Public School. We will continue to share updates with you about our new school plan throughout the term.

PARACHUTING AROUND THE SCHOOL WITH MRS KARAM

3 LITHUANIA: Last week I visited class 3L. They were completing an informative writing task on Australian animals. It was great to walk around and assist some students. The students were able to tell me lots of facts about Koalas, Platypus and Kangaroos. The students were working with Mr Ly to edit their writing. I was impressed with how well the students were working together to help one another. Check out some photos in this edition of the newsletter.

1 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Last week I visited class 1D during their literacy time. They were very excited to have me visit and were eager to show me all of their different activities. One activity was a writing task which asked the students to write about what they would do if they won a million dollars! The students were very excited to tell me about all of their dreams and wishes. The students in 1D were working very hard together and enjoyed participating in a variety of activities which included; writing, reading, problem solving tasks and completing literacy puzzles. Well done 1D.

HOLIDAY WRITING TASK

Thank you to all of the students who completed the holiday task. It has been great to receive the letters throughout the week. If you haven’t posted your letter then please continue to do so. We hope you enjoyed this fabulous holiday task with your family.

WATER STATIONS

During the holidays we had 3 water stations installed at the school. These stations have a bubbler and also 2 dispensers to enable students to fill up their water bottles. This week we gave each student their very own Fairvale PS water bottle. Teachers have written student names on the bottles and discussed safe use. For now the bubbler will be turned off but students are able to fill up their water bottles with fresh drinking water. We hope everyone enjoys this wonderful addition to our school.

COVERED AWNINGS

During the holidays we have also had a covered awning installed outside of class 5V and 5J and the awning continues all the way down to 4C. This awning will come in handy on hot and rainy days.

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY

Friday 30th October is World Teachers’ Day. This is a day that we celebrate all the wonderful things our teachers do for children all over our country. For us here at Fairvale, we are going to celebrate World Teachers’ Week in Week 3. Instead of a day, we are going to celebrate the whole week! We will acknowledge the dedicated, hardworking teaching staff we have here at Fairvale Public School. Don’t forget to say happy World Teachers’ Week in Week 3 to your teacher. You might decide to surprise him or her with a special card or poem – I know they will appreciate your kindness. Don’t forget our support teachers who also work with all of our children each and every day. Our school captains, Charbel and Maryana, along with our executive team have some surprises up our sleeves!
