Principal's Report

End of Year

We are getting closer to the end of the school year there will be lots of events and things happening to keep up with. Here is a list of things taking place at school over the next three week. This is not necessarily an exhaustive list, so if there is something missing from this list, please contact your classroom teacher as these are generally whole school events:

Friday, December 4th: Foundation Transition - Lisa Reiner will have sent out information about this to our new families

Friday, December 4th: Through School Transition - Students will be in their 2021 Units with the 2021 teaching staff - I will publish the list of teaching staff for 2021 to families later this week. 

Tuesday, December 8th: Year 6-7 Transition. This is the statewide transition day for Government Schools

Wednesday, December 9th: 2021 Meet the Teacher Transition session. Students will spend the morning at 9 am-12:40 pm in their 2021 classroom with their 2021 teacher. 

Monday, December 14th: Year 6 Graduation

Friday, December 18th: Final/Leavers assembly

We will also be hosting our awards assembly in the last week, we are yet to finalise a date and time for this. 

For our Leavers assembly on Friday 18th, only Year 6 families will be able to attend to adhere to capacity limits for a gathering. Similarly, only families of those receiving awards at the awards assembly will be able to attend once the time and date have been finalised. 

Staff Changes

Our staffing profile is almost complete for the 2021 school year. We have one aspect to finalise, our Tutor in Schools program that I have written about below, however, we do know of some movements of our staff. I will have more to say in a few weeks about our staff who are leaving, however:

Megan Richter will be leaving Marlborough at the end of 2020. Megan has been a fantastic asset to our Performing Arts program over the past three years and also in our 5/6 are this year. Megan will be taking up a position at Knox Gardens Primary School.

Amanda Rethus will also be leaving Marlborough and making a move to Knox Gardens Primary School. Amanda has been with us for just over 18 months working in about or Year 6 and Foundation areas of our school. 

Both Megan and Amanda will be missed next year and we wish them both the very best in their new roles. 

We will be welcoming onto staff Mandy Boulton. Mandy will be joining the Marlborough team in 2021 in a classroom teaching position. 

Tutor Learning Program

We have begun the large task of identifying students who will be participating in the Department of Education's tutor learning program. This program is being provided in schools during 2021 and acknowledges the impact of Remote Learning on students. We are currently working through the process of identifying students who will participate in the program and how the program will best support their needs. We are likely to finalise our program in the first few weeks of 2021 and families will be notified if their child is participating in this program. 

Now that we have preliminary data on the needs of the program we are also able to place the best staff into the role of Tutor. This may not be finalised by the time the 2021 staffing list is published later this week, however, should be finalised by the end of 2020.
