Final Days for Year 12 

2020 Valedictory Assembly

The Year 12 Valedictory Assembly was held on 12 November after the HSC written examination period had been completed. This was the first Valedictory Assembly combining students following the merger of Armidale and Duval High Schools. The opportunity to gather in the outdoor plaza area at the new ASC campus in Butler Street marked the start of establishing routines uniquely shaped by the new ASC student body. 

The ASC 2021 School Captains, Emilie Gates and Dion Whitfield, compered the assembly. Mr Steve Widders presented the Welcome to Country, while the 2020 Leadership Group (Felix Dwyer-Westhorpe, Amy Evans, William Fittler, Kasey Gaukroger, Juliet Knuckey, Ella Pringle, Noah Standen-Roberts, and Luke Wilson) provided a fantastic synopsis of the fun, challenges and gratitudes of the past six years. 

Several Year 12 students provided music and drama performances throughout the event: 

Special guests, staff and the 2021 Leaders presented major awards for academic success and sporting achievements, with congratulatory elbow-bumps reflecting the Covid-appropriate tone of this year.   

Ms Lasker (ASC Principal) and Ms Kelly (Year 12 Advisor with Ms Labrosse [maternity leave]) offered farewell addresses reflecting on their relationships with Year 12 students over the years and offering encouragement to embrace and enjoy the opportunities ahead.  

Students were then presented their individual portfolios by Ms Kelly before departing the Assembly to the music of 'Walking on a Dream' (Empire of the Sun).

We engaged a professional videographer to capture the entire Assembly. Keep an eye on the ASC Website and social media where we will be publishing this video and many more photos in the near future!

Tidy up time!

Congratulations to Year 12 for completing your in-school assessments, your major works, your HSC examinations, your Valedictory Assembly, your various social commitments, and for winning the Eagle Cup! 

BUT....have you returned all your textbooks and other equipment to the school?

Please check all your bookshelves, under your bed, kitchen table, and any other nooks and crannies for school resources and return them ASAP. They are needed for next year's HSC students.
