What is one of your hidden talents?
I am a ‘handy-person’; I can repair, fix, and replace things around the house. I am known to go out, buy new dishwashers, washing machines, haul them into the house, and, install into place. I secretly want to be on The Block.
What makes a ‘great’ day at school?
A great day is when all students are happy, ready to learn, and engaged in their learning activities. Also, high-fives and chats with students.
Your dream vacation would be?
Touring France, visiting quaint country sides, and enjoying local produce.
What inspires you?
People with tenacity, and the will to succeed despite obstacles, who defy prejudice and bias, and challenge the status-quo.
What would students be surprised to find out about you?
They may be surprised that English is my second language, and that I am fluent in Turkish.
If you could pass on any wisdom to your students, what would you share?
“Failure is not in the falling down; it’s in the staying down”. No matter what, tap into your inner grit, and determination, and strive to overcome any hardship that may befall you.
What is your favorite subject to teach?
Literature – definitely, Shakespeare.
The best thing about being a teacher at the college?
Working with incredibly talented staff, and some of the brightest, and kindest students I have ever met.
